Rigour in two languages

Learning continues in an English-immersive environment, while our Chinese department teaches Chinese, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies so that students keep the option of continuing their studies in Taiwan.

Students also take Spanish, STEAM, Computer Science and Sports classes.

IB Middle Years Programme

Making connections, Grades 6–9

LUYA Academy is a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), a framework for students aged 11–16 that encourages practical connections between their studies and the real world.

Middle school students also complete LUYA’s MYP Project Study. Progression from year to year is based on the school’s overall review of each student’s learning, attendance and engagement.

Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.

Growing independence

Self-management

Students plan their time, meet deadlines and build the self-discipline to work steadily towards goals.

Academic integrity

Students complete their own work and give proper credit when using others’ ideas.

Character & leadership

Older students guide younger ones through the House System and model the ARISE values.
